Kidnapping, Rape, and Shoot-Out

Sometime yesterday in Kern County, two couples were out on what locals call “Lovers’ Lane.” The perpetrator approached the couples’ car with a gun and tied them all up with duct tape. He then kidnaps the girls. For twenty-four hours, these girls have been missing. Due to “Amber Alert,” a new early-warning system signed in by Governor Davis a few weeks ago, a tip from a CalTrans worker lead law enforcers to the perpetrator. Refusing to surrender himself (for it meant his Third Strike), he pulled out his gun. The perpetrator was shot. The girls were returned home. Medical officials confirmed that the girls were raped. Parents of victims were glad the rapist was shot, and the girls were returned home.
